Christianism in its Youth

The search for a pattern for the contemporary Christian Eucharist takes us back into the history much before Christ s earthly birth. Ancient traditions, as the Roman and Greek banquets and festive meals were an image of what will follow in the Christian religion; the world was preparing for its Saviour. Coming closer to the place were the Christian religion was born, the Jewish monotheist world was the proper environment for our Lord s incarnation. The New Testament accounts of the Last Supper give us one of the first written Eucharistic patterns, which will be followed by Christians in the first centuries.
