Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hab. Monica Margarit is a highly appreciated expert of technology of hard animal materials industry, a field in which she obtained additional training at Atelier thématique du Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Pincevent, France, and traseology of hard animal materials industry, further developed as a result of a formation stage at Institut d’Art et d’Archéologie, Sorbonne I, Paris entitled Identification, caractérisation et représentation des traces d’utilisation. Stage de formation à l’analyse de la fonction technique des equipements osseux. She obtained a Ph. D. in History with a thesis entitled L’art mobilier paléolithique et mésolithique de Roumanie et de la République Moldova, en contexte central et est-européen (Upper Paleolithic and Mesolithic Portable Art in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, in a Central and East-European Context). Monica Mărgărit has been able to gain several project competitions. Her most recent research project was entitled Behind prehistoric technology: the eneolithic hard animal material industry from Southeastern Europe (grant of the Romanian National Authority for Scientific Research and Innovation, CNCS – UEFISCDI, project number PN-II-RU-TE-2014-4-0519; 2011-2014).
